Their Story!!!
As many of you may or may not know Billy and Jodi work together at Takeda Pharmaceuticals. This is where it all began!!!
Billy has always been a sports NUT and he plays on a summer baseball league. Jodi has always been a fan of baseball ever since her uncle took her to see Wrigley when she was a little girl. Well one day Jodi was on the 4th floor at Takeda speaking with Bill’s then boss Bill Schwartz about nothing in general. The topic of the conversation progressed to sports, as their conversations usually did. While Schwartz and Jodi were talking Billy walked into the room and heard that the conversation was about his favorite topic, sports, and joined in. He mentioned to Jodi that he played baseball and had a game coming up that weekend and invited her to come see him play!
First off, I must mention that Billy gave Jodi directions to the ballpark and trust me if you’re not familiar with the area at all, don’t listen to Billy’s directions. Well, finally Jodi reached the ballpark to watch Billy’s double hitter. And he did great. The only downside was that shortly after Jodi arrived at the park, Billy was pulled from the game and didn’t play again that day! Yet, she fell for him anyway!!! Jodi never could resist a man in uniform! I guess it runs in her family. Nana only married Poppa because he had a cute butt in his Army uniform.
Well the romance moved quickly from there!!! Billy invited Jodi out for ice cream and the rest is history. They were hooked!
Oh yeah…………. The proposal!!!
Ok, so it’s not that great a story, but I have to tell it to you because I know you’ll ask later!
Those of you who know Billy, know that he isn’t the best planner and he lacks a little in the romance department, but that being said……
Billy had asked me on several occasions before to marry him, but being the pessimist that I am, I didn’t think he was serious. He just didn’t strike me as the kind of guy who would ever want to get married. Let alone settle down with a wife and family. Man was I wrong!!!
Billy and I commute to work together every day. It was on the way home from work during one of these 2 hour commutes that Billy asked me again to marry him. I had heard all this before so I didn’t really pay attention to him and I didn’t even really look at him when he asked. But, he got very quite and asked again. That got my attention. I looked over at him and saw the look in his eyes. Ladies and gentlemen that was it!!! I knew I loved him and it struck me for the first time that he was serious! I said yes and Billy made me the happiest girl in the world that day! And I wouldn’t trade that story for anything in the world!!
Now you know how we came to be!!!
